- Opening a bank account may be facilitated by using the bank the transferring corporation manages their corporate banking with.
- Public schools are not recommended; there are several private schools and are subject to availability.
- The length of a lease is usually 12 months; for leases less than 3 months a 7% tax will apply.
- Renting from private owners may require a credit check, a letter of employment and three months of up front. This includes the first and last month’s rent and one month of security deposit.
- The landlord pays the rental commission, which is usually 1- month’s rent.
- Administration/HOA fees may apply in some gated communities or buildings.
- Most landlords will accept the diplomatic clause.
- The connection of the utilities the Social Security number and copy of visa page on passport are needed.
- The areas where affordable, desirable rentals are most likely to be located within Puerto Rico are Condado, Isla Verde, Rio Piedras, Guaynabo and Dorado. Out of the metropolitan area are Ponce, Mayaguez, and Isabela.
